So, what is Camp NaNoWriMo? The group who created NaNoWriMo put on two sessions of camp a year; April and July. It’s a time when authors can choose their own word count goals and with the use of cabins can meet and support other writers during the month.
My main draw to Camp NaNo is that of focus. Life is complicated, and if you’ve read my post on scheduling and the hecticity of life, then you’ll know I’m more than a bit busy most days. Camp NaNo forces me to revisit my priorities and look at writing more as a career and less of a hobby. I’d love to say I can keep up that pattern on non-NaNo months, but with a full time job not related to my writing, that’s a wish I cannot yet make a reality. Camp is one of my favorite times of the year, (bet you can’t guess which other two months I enjoy) full of word sprints via twitter, late nights in bed typing furiously because I just can’t keep my imaginary friends quiet, and in-depth plot conversations with my friends and family. *whistles* These are just a few of my favorite things.
This year I am taking it up a notch, I am acting as a sponsor for Camp NaNoWriMo and ask that if you can follow this link here, and go donate to this amazing event I would truly appreciate it. Any amount helps, even $1 , every little bit adds to their season’s total and the money goes to things that directly benefit the site users, new cabins, new site assets, etc. If you feel you are unable to donate, then boost an author; tweet, facebook or comment below directly to me and help motivate us through our journey. Use the hashtag #CampNaNoWriMo on social media and help us make those word counts!
