You never know when inspiration will hit you in the face like a ton of bricks... for me it mostly happens when I should be sleeping. Much to my fiance's upset I clicked away as fast as possible on my cell phone which was the only thing in reach. Here's what I came up with:
Story starts out with a young girl sitting on Venice beach or Santa Monica. She's spending her last sunrise in so cal before moving to her grandfathers in Seattle to help him run his book shop. He's getting old and with her family all moving across country she has no reason to stay in la. She'll miss the heat but that's about it. Not that traffic. Not the noise. And definitely not the people. She enjoys the feel of the sand on her feet and plays with it in her hands as she watches the tides and the city wake up. She then says good by. Grabs her book watching a loose page float to the ground. She picks it up, reads it and says aloud, "'Who in the world am I? Ah, that's the great puzzle'. You're right Alice, i don't know." and she hops in her car to begin the long north.
