This week’s blog is going to be a little different. Many folks have asked me for more information about my Patreon, what is it, how it works, and why they would want to participate. This blog should hopefully clear up those questions and become a resource in the future.
Patreon is a website that stems from the idea of “patron” or a person who gives financial or other support to a person. Patreon is a way for consumers to help support creatives with a monthly financial contribution and get reward goodies in return, think Kickstarter, but monthly instead of one time. The contributions tend to be smaller because of the increased cadence.
How does Patreon work?
Patreon has two forms of support, monthly or per good (music video, short story, art piece, etc), my Patreon is based on monthly patronage. You can also set a monthly max, so you never go above your budget.
Why would someone become a Patron?
Lots of reasons. Content creators create tiers of rewards that are rewards or goodies that patrons can choose from. Some of these rewards can be early access to content, physical swag, or personalized perks. It's all in the patron’s hands; how much you donate, what rewards you want, and how involved you become.
What does Patreon mean for Eliza’s Imaginary Adventures?
If you've enjoyed reading my work the past three years, please consider donating so I can continue to provide new stories, new blogs, and fresh reviews. Sign-up to pledge and you'll be directly included in my creative process, even $1 a month will help me continue moving forward, and you can get some pretty neat interactions with me as well. There are perks like early access to my writing, immortalizing a name of your choice within my writing, and google hangouts to talk anything books. All patrons will also get access to exclusive forums to further interact with me and other supporters.
I write because I love it and I want you to love it too. Your contributions keep me going and help with everything from software costs and better site features to saving for future printing expenses. Every little bit helps and I am thankful everyday for being able to share my work with you, so even if you don’t donate, a share on social media or telling a friend about my Patreon will make a HUGE difference. Keep checking back on Patreon because new things will be added all the time, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for stopping by and supporting me!
